WEBSITE GOES LIVE 1ST SEPTEMBER

I was wildly over optimistic at thinking the Hart of War website would be ready by mid August lol. There is a lot of work involved in getting things ready!
But I can confidently say, with fingers and everything else crossed that the site will be up and running on 1st September. I am really happy with the way it is looking. I hope you will like it too, even if its just to look at the gallery page looking for research/painting ideas, all visits are welcome.
Here are some pictures of 15mm French Indian Wars figures that were used for Osprey's 'Land of the Free' wargames rules written by Joe Krone. The figures are by US company Blue Moon.

 

 

 

 

BATTLETECH ROBOTS

I had a very interesting and different commission to do a few weeks ago - BattleTech.

They are robot weapons from the 31st Century, and to give an idea of size the little soldiers that run around getting squished are 6mm scale. I had never heard of Battletech before now, it reminded me very much of Transformers, a family favourite here (the movies anyway...except the 4th movie). Having said that these robots are not 'alive' as such and do not transform into sporty cars and things.

The robots in green are the 'good' side, and those in the old weathered greeny/brown are the naughty bad guys who like to cause trouble wherever they go (don't we all or is that just me)

I am surprised that Transformers has not been made into a game with figures etc available - may be its not as popular everywhere in the gaming world as it is here at home. I am pretty sure my eldest daughter would get involved as she already loves Warhammer 40K!

The website is progressing well, sorting out the glitches and making changes to layouts, but its all looking to be on schedule to go live mid/late August. Its a bit of an adventure, a lot of work, but exciting. A bit like the fun that Jason and the Argonauts are having here. A tenuous link to put some totally unrelated pictures on to illustrate this post....

15MM ACW CONFEDERATES

An Alabama and Georgian regiment on the attack.
15mm Figures by Xan Miniatures. Very decent figures that paint up nicely. They make two more regiments for a Gettysburg game the customer is organising. For inspiration I had the film 'Gettysburg' on in the background - very appropriate - spot the false facial hair. A very good film though.
The website design is progressing well - it should be finished towards the end of July (basically any time now lol) and I am aiming for its launch mid August with initial stocks of Warlord Games figures and then Perry's plastics followed in time by more different ranges - something in 15mm etc.

BABYLONIAN COLONIST CAVALRY XYSTON 15MM

 These are 15mm Xyston Miniatures - always nice figures to paint. This is another recently finished commission (I'm getting through quite a lot of work just lately - but still loads more to do!)

28MM NAPOLEONIC RUSSIANS

A few weeks ago I published a post about a large 28mm Napoleonic Russian commission - well Gunter Heim, for whom the figures are being painted, kindly sent me a picture of the 4 battalions he has so far. Gunter has now added the flags.
Pictured here are the 1st and 3rd battalions of the Tambov Infantry Regiment, and the 1st and 3rd battalions of the Vladimir Infantry Regiment, with their colours proudly flying.

15MM FRENCH ORDNANCE

These are from a very recent commission...freshly baked and out of the oven if you like. They are 15mm French Ordnance pike (although I lie, one pike block are Swiss pike - the red and white chaps).
The basing is for DBM.
They look quite formidable but I guess easy to pin down and out-manoeuvre in DBM. Many years ago when I used to play DBM at Leicester Wargames club I had a Seleucid army and could never win with it. The pike block would always get pinned down by a few skirmishers and would then be outflanked while the rest of the army was dismantled. I remember a club member I used to play against (I think his name was John and he was from South Africa) he gave me some very helpful advice - get a good PIP score for the pike and advance forward aggressively with them to pin down the opponents main body of troops, then close in for the kill with the companions (Kn (F)). The next week I tried it and sure enough it worked like a dream. I won the game in about 15 minutes!
