Yet more American War of Independence American infantry, 28mm Perry Miniatures. The officer has not taken heed of General Washington's instructions for officers to carry spontoons instead of muskets so that they can command the troops rather than shoot at the enemy. He Definitely wants to shoot some Brits!

3RD NEW YORK INFANTRY
The 3rd New York Continental line, American War of Independence. The thing that I like about the American army during this period is the variety of uniforms! Painting this unit felt like painting a Confederate regiment from the American Civil War. Figures are Wargames Foundry.
I love the poses these figures are in. Its as if they are waiting for Mel Gibson to turn up and give an impassioned speech about freedom and all that, as he did for the Highlanders. If Mel Gibson doesn't turn up they are not going to fight!

28MM PERRY US OFFICERS AWI
Here are a couple of American War of Independence commanders looking rather confused about where they are going today (aren't we all a bit like that sometimes?)
And where are the troops? They will be along soon, this is just a quick post as I have just had a computer upgrade and I am just trying it out. The old one died a death, very slowly and painfully (slow for the computer and painful for me).

LAND OF THE FREE
I mentioned in a previous post about a new set of rules being released - "Land of the Free" published by Osprey. They were written by Joe Krone who had commissioned Hart of War to paint some 15mm French/Indian War figures to illustrate the book. Joe has kindly sent me some pictures of a playtest of the rules he had organised, so I thought it would be nice to post some of the pics here as not all of them appear in the book. The rules cover the wars in North America - the country's struggle for independence - from the French Indian Wars to the 1812 war with Britain. They also cover everything in between such as the wars with the Indians.
The pictures here cover a French/Indian Wars battle. Thanks to Joe Krone for supplying the pictures. The figures are now in the collection of Kevin Krause.
The more observant will notice that the French are using British guns and the British gun crews are using those of the French - not Hart of War's fault, the guns were not glued to the bases so I think Joe mixed them up when setting the game up!

9TH REGIMENT OF FOOT BRITISH AWI
The 9th Regiment of Foot during the American War of Independence. Figures are by Wargames Foundry. The regiment still has its Grenadier and Light Companies, and a supporting gun for good measure so they are not taking any chances!
The 9th Regiment alongside the 42nd Royal Highlanders (featured in previous post). I think the flags may be the wrong way round but to be honest I can never remember which way round they go - there must be a rhyme or something that can help me to remember this...its a good job I don't glue the flags in before sending to the customer. This avoids any damage in transit. If I did glue them in I would make sure they were the right way round!
Two senior commanders making sure the chaps advance in the right direction and die in a blaze of glory!
