28MM LATE IMPERIAL ROMANS

Some Legio Commitatensis - the legion with the red shields are Foundry and the legion with the yellow shields are Gripping Beast. The supporting dart throwers are Foundry. These guys have plain shields - the Late Roman period wasn't all about fancy pants shields but getting troops on the ground to defend the Roman way of life,  and to prevent it from disappearing under the waves of migrating Germanics - not that it would matter the Romans were already heavily influenced by Germanic/Saxon material and culture by now anyway. Now in the collection of Mick Hoddy of the Herts Volunteers Wargames Club.
