Lt-Gen Baron Chasse 28mm Front Rank Figurines

Lieutenant-General D.H. Baron Chasse

I decided to keep on with the Napoleonic/Waterloo theme. Lt Gen Chasse this time, commander of the 3rd Netherlands Division in 1815...a division that performed well at Waterloo. After the repulse of the first French cavalry attacks Wellington moved him and his division up from Braine l'Alleud to reinforce the centre of the Anglo-Allied line. This division also played a part in stopping the attack of the Imperial Guard. They suffered 736 dead, wounded and missing at the battle.
He was an experienced officer having previously fought for the French and earned the title 'General Bayonet'.
This is what I love about my job as a figure painter. Its not only about applying paint to bare metal/plastic. I found this figure in a box and decided to paint him...but just as enjoyable is the research part. It doesn't have to be heavy going, academically challenging. Just a bit of background info on the chap.

As per normal routine he is now on Ebay item number 301005843046.

Napoleonic Riflemen 28mm

I have just finished painting this officer of the 95th Rifles. I had noticed that most of my recent painting had been ancient or medieval, so I wanted to move onto something different, and I found this fellow looking lost and abandoned on the shelf. He was originally going to be painted as an officer of the 2nd battalion KGL to go with a Waterloo collection centred around the fight for La Haie Sainte. I never got round to doing it. He is now pointing the way to Ebay where he is for sale (item ID 300999151518) starting at £0.99!
I did get round to doing the rest of the 2nd battalion KGL many moons ago:

These are Front Rank Figurines' Portuguese Cazadores painted as the 2nd KGL Light Infantry Battalion. I did these before Perry Miniatures starting producing a specific pack for the unit.

Front Rank Figurines Henry V and Sir John Codrington

'Felas, lets go!'

Agincourt, 25 October 1415. Stalemate. The French and English armies waited to see who would make the first move. As the hours passed by it became a stern test of nerve and discipline.
The English cracked first. Henry, realising that the French would not budge, ordered his banners forward crying 'In the name of Almyghti God, and of Saint George, Avaunt baner! and Saint George this day thyn helpe!'*....or possibly the more succinct phrase 'Felas, lets go!'*
And the English battle line moved forward to within longbow range of the French.
Maybe I should paint up some English archers next.....
*The quotes are from Juliet Barker's excellent book 'Agincourt', and after reading it I was inspired to paint up Front Rank Figurines Henry V and Sir John Codrington. Frontrank figures are always a joy to paint. These two 'Felas' are now for sale on Ebay, item number 300992403895.

15mm Corvus Belli Early Imperial Romans

I guess its winter now as we have had to finally put the heating on to warm the kids up, and so to keep going with the theme here is a unit of 15mm Corvus Belli Early Imperial Romans dressed ready for the cold weather. I really like the Romans that Corvus Belli make, I just wish they would expand their ranges. I will be putting these on Ebay at some point in the future but if anyone wants a unit painting up drop me an email at p414hart@btinternet.com

28mm Frontrank Figurines Wars of the Roses Longbowmen

I recently finished a unit of 12 Wars of the Roses archers using Front Rank Figurines, and they are on Ebay at the moment. I have painted them in the livery colours of the Earl of Warwick, 'The Kingmaker', with the ragged staff badge. They are all based singly on 20x20 MDF bases. Lots of grass on the base too to replicate merry old Medieval England.
King Richard III went on Ebay last week so the connection here is that Richard III was married to Anne Neville, the Earl of Warwick's younger daughter! A tenuous link I guess...

I really enjoyed painting these figures and hope to do some more units in the future
